The Basic Health Plan, which is being advanced strongly at a national level in Panama, was prepared within the General Assembly of the United Nations, with all 193 member states recognising the need to adopt urgent measures to ensure the right to drinking water and sanitation, as one of the 19 Sustainable Development Objectives to be met by 2023.
The Government of the Republic of Panama intends to meet its objective for the year 2019 in a responsible and transparent manner, providing for the population to the best of its capacity and committing to the reconstruction of a better Panama for the benefit of all Panamanians, regardless of social class.
In line with the above, it is to invest 30% of the total public investment budget to guarantee access for the population to drinking water and basic sanitation, through the construction of aqueducts, sewers and the waste water and solid waste treatment plans required in San Miguelito and the rest of the country.
With the awarding of two sanitation contracts in the San Miguelito neighbourhood to Ortiz Construcciones y Proyectos, GRUPO ORTIZ becomes part of this ambitious project beginning its activity in the Republic of Panama, the third country in Central America where the company is now active.
Moreover, GRUPO ORTIZ is reinforcing its activity in hydraulic works with the award to Asteisa of the construction and rehabilitation, with its subsequent operation and maintenance, of a treatment plant in Santiago de Veraguas.
